Exactly like today's ribbons, the ribbon's unique coloring signifies in which conflict or war the person served. The number of bronze star devices signifies how many different campaigns within the conflict that person supported.
From right to left: Good Conduct Medal; American Campaign Medal; Europe-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4x bronze star devices for the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe campaigns; & Victory Medal
